We believe God’s passion is for His fame to grow among the nations.

The heart of God is abundantly clear in Scripture; it beats for His own glory among the nations! From His promise in Genesis 12 to reach all peoples through the seed of Abraham to the guarantee in Revelation 5 that there will be representatives from every tongue, tribe, people and nation, God is passionately pursuing all peoples to know and worship Himself. Because of this, our passion is for God’s name to be made known and worshipped among people who have not yet heard the gospel. Consider how you might become a part of changing lives for Christ!

We exist to see God glorified among the least-reached.

Least-reached peoples are those who have no way to hear that God loves them and offers them eternal life through Jesus Christ. They have little or no culturally-relevant gospel witness among them and they total over 40 percent of the world’s population—nearly three billion people! Christar works to bring the hope of Christ to least-reached Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and other Asians worldwide.

We proclaim Christ’s salvation and glory among the least-reached because our God is ultimately worthy of praise. We want Jesus to be worshipped among all people, including the nearly three billion people who have never heard His name! But, unless someone shares the hope of Christ with them in a way they can understand, they will never be able to worship Jesus. How will you impact the lives of the least-reached?

We believe in transforming communities through the church.

We believe one of the best ways to affect Christ-honoring transformation in communities is to plant churches. We know communities are changed one believer at a time. Therefore, we seek to live not in our own strength, but effectively through dependence on Christ, as He builds His church among the least-reached. Jesus states in Matthew 16:18 “I will build My church.” We seek to follow Jesus in the ministry that He initiated. We recognize that this model of ministry is strategic in that it leaves behind a living, growing testimony—the body of Christ—long after the worker has gone. How might you become a part of transforming lives for Christ?

Our workers are girded with a foundation of daily prayer!

At Christar we are passionate about prayer! We express our passion for prayer by requiring every long-term Christar worker to have 100 people committed to pray for them every day. Though the number 100 is not specified in Scripture, this expectation reminds us of our dependence on God and our partnership with those who have sent us. Prayer is a big deal to us. We can’t do what we do without it. You can make a difference in the life of someone without Christ by praying for the work of Christar around the world!

Prayer Requests

Christar is one of the leading organizations focused on taking the Gospel to least-reached Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Asians worldwide!

Christar started its missions work in the Far East in 1909. The years of experience and accountability have kept us stable. From the very beginning, our passion has been for the least-reached people. We are theologically conservative and yet structurally progressive. Since our one goal is to glorify God by establishing churches among least-reached, we encourage workers to fully use their God-given talents to effect Christ-honoring transformation in communities so that Christ is worshipped. We are fully committed to planting churches and making new disciples of indigenous people who will spread the Gospel throughout countries where we have been. How might you become a part of Christar heritage?

Heritage

We believe workers and staff increase results by collaborating with churches and in teams both on and off the field.

We partner with sending churches and like-minded individuals to plant reproducing indigenous churches among the least-reached. We believe the mutual care and accountability found in teams strengthens the body of Christ. Through an atmosphere of support and stability we encourage our teams to make decisions and define strategies. Our workers use a wide variety of ministries to cultivate Christ-honoring transformation in least-reached communities. We share the gospel using methods ranging from friendship evangelism to social networking to Bible studies for seekers. Our medical ministries are impacting lives both physically and spiritually throughout the Far East and are helping to transform the medical system in Albania. Several Christar projects combine biblical education and vocational training for church leaders in least-reached communities, preparing them to minister effectively and support themselves. By meeting the needs of refugees we are able to share Christ and disciple believers from countries that are less than one percent evangelical.

We believe in fully caring for each member, that is why we have a department devoted solely to member care.

Christar works to promote each member’s emotional, physical, spiritual and relational health. That is why our Member Care Department was created. We want to advance the vitality and overall well-being of the Christar family by equipping, supporting and encouraging our members. Workers have needs for care, refreshment, training and resources. Our desire is that they are able to work long term and be effective. By investing in workers’ lives, we help them face difficulties on the field, and grow in their communities and interpersonal relationships; thus workers are better able to go the distance on the field. This excites us at Christar because it means more lives are being touched with the Gospel and more churches are being planted among the least-reached! Become a part of our caring community.

Innovative Ideas are encouraged and utilized.

We value the needs of people as opportunities for ministry. This allows our workers to use their unique gifts and talents to serve and initiate new and innovative ministry ideas. We share the gospel by sharing our very lives with others. This ability flows from our daily walk with and dependence upon God. Ministry looks different with each of our teams simply because team members use their individual gifts and talents to minister to the least-reached among them. How might God be calling you to use your gifts on the mission field?
